TrendSetr's, Then and Now
A TrendSetr possesses originality, creativity, and the confidence to be BOLD. They inspire their peers and couldn’t care less about what their critics have to say. We believe the people below perfectly exemplify what it means to be a TrendSetr.
“I never think of myself as an icon. What is in other people’s minds is not in my mind. I just do my thing.”
Women wanted to be her and men wanted to be with her. Audrey modernized the little black dress and popularized the bold combination of capris and ballet flats that we still see today.
Lana Del Rey
“If you are born an artist, you have no choice but to fight to stay an artist.”
-Lana Del Rey
Her look is as unique as anyone’s and speaks for itself, but her original sound is what really captivated people around the world. She puts her emotions on display to bring you in, then blows you away with her wide-range and unmistakably original sound. Let’s be real…who hasn’t bawled their eyes out while listening to Lana??
Chance the Rapper
“I can’t gain anything off of anyone else not succeeding.”
-Chance the Rapper
Notorious for his black White Sox hat and unique voice, the Windy City rapper first hit the charts in 2013 when he dropped his second mixtape, Acid Rap.
Since his rise to fame, Chance has been actively involved in the Chicago community. Specifically, he aims to help keep the youth of Chicago off the streets and bring light to the mess that exists in the Chicago Public School system. We may or may not have a little local bias, but it’s pretty tough not to get behind someone who is such a remarkable creative and uses his platform for the benefit of those in need.
I can never be safe; I always try and go against the grain. As soon as I accomplish one thing, I just set a higher goal. That’s how I’ve gotten to where I am.
Whether you want to call her Queen B, Sasha Fierce, or (our favorite) Beyoncé Z, you can’t deny the impact she has made throughout her career. She epitomizes what it means to be a strong, independent woman that don’t need no man. Her music has empowered women all over the world. Plus, where would our Saturday’s at the bar be without belting ‘Drunk in Love?’
“Fashion is almost like a religion…for me at least”
Between his music, his videos, his recently launched creative label AWGE, and his style – there’s no denying A$AP Rocky’s creativity. Similar to what we said about Audrey above, men want to be him and women want to be with him. His style is unrivaled, only emulated… and somehow he always seems to be 10 steps ahead of everyone else when it comes to new trends in the fashion world.
“There’s a lot of baggage that comes along with our family, but it’s like Louis Vuitton baggage”
Did ya think we’d forget?? Or hope? The Kardashians, the Jenners, or whatever you’d prefer to call them, are undeniably the most influential family in the United States when it comes to fashion and cosmetics.
Their lives are nothing short of hilariously entertaining. Kylie is about to become the youngest female billionaire ever, and let’s not forget about Kanye. The Kardashians have solidified their place in the country’s spotlight for now and the foreseeable future. Regardless of what you think of them, it would be wrong not to include them on a list of TrendSetr’s.
